Myler Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee with Hooks
MB 06 Mullen with Low Ported Barrel
The MB 06 is a Myler alternative to the traditional mullen, but it has a wide low port that allows the tongue to pass under it comfortably.
The port is ¾" high, just enough to allow the horse’s tongue to elevate slightly and swallow, but not high enough for palate pressure. When
the reins are engaged, the 06 applies pressure primarily to the bars and lips.
- Independent Side Movement
- Stainless Steel Mouthpiece
- Curved mouthpiece does not pinch lips and bars
- Copper Inlay
- NOT Dressage Legal
Notes: This mouthpiece is a step up in tongue relief from Level 2, but because the port is low, it does not offer as much tongue relief as
other Level 2-3 mouthpieces with slightly higher ports because the tongue is still somewhat restricted. The MB 36 mouthpiece will offer more
tongue relief than the MB 06 when the reins are relaxed, but more tongue pressure when the reins are engaged. For more overall tongue
relief, see MB 43LP.
The dee with hooks is a stainless steel "D" shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece, as well as slots (“hooks”) at the top and
bottom of the ring for bridle and rein attachment. The small loop behind the top slot accommodates a curb strap (attach with two curb
hooks). Both the top bridle slot and bottom rein slot on the standard and medium dee will fit standard ⅝" bridle leather. The slots on the
pony dee will fit ¾" bridle leather.
The hooks make this a much more versatile version of the dee without hooks. Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the
correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheek pieces. Attaching the reins to the rein hooks allow the rider to
lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement™ of the mouthpiece. Using the hooks does not add leverage but allows the rider to
transition from a direct rein action to indirect action without changing the bit. Adding a curb strap (using a Myler curb strap kit)
incorporates curb pressure. Curb pressure is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
Size: 3 3/4" dee on 5" mouthpiece.
Action: Direct rein action when reins are not attached through rein hook. Indirect rein action when rein is fixed on rein hook.
Discipline: Primarily English
Degree of Leverage: Little to no leverage when the hooks are used
